So I just got off I-65 at Starbucks on my way to St. Louis for a short campus visit. I’m having one of those ridiculous drinks that cost me 54 cents an ounce. My Blue Coconut Lemonade Energy Refresher is about to kick in so I can crank out this post and get back on my way.
School is up and running! Our local GCF group met last weekend and decided to offer Christianity Explored this fall in our monthly brunches. If you know a grad student we should follow up here in Omaha, please send them this post. The QR Code in the above image will take them to our publicity.
Can you help us network?
Our GFM Region is tackling a goal this year of helping our groups reach out more effectively. Many of our student and faculty groups are strong and stable communities, but somewhat plateaued in numbers. As staff we’re committed to pushing our envelopes using a simple network mapping tool (you can see mine below). The idea is to be more attentive and invitational in our own spheres of influence. We’re also aiming to help our students and faculty do the same.
One way YOU can help us is to let us know about Grad Students and Faculty members who you know are staring a new program (or are taking a new teaching/research position). GFM has lively chapters at many of the nations R-1 institutes (larger research budgets, usually larger state schools). If you know of someone we should follow up with PLEASE HELP US CONNECT! Take a minute to follow this link to a short Google Form and let us know the name of someone you may know – no matter where that person is headed in the U.S. (and of course especially if you know of someone in my area – NE, KS, MO, IA).
Click here to pass on a contact.

Once you send us a name, I’ll confirm that with you before I reach out. Thanks for helping us increase our visibility! Pray for our fellowships this month as groups are starting back up. I’m eager to get our local GCF started in September – we’ll be working through the Gospel of Mark with Rico Tice. More on that later!

Today finally does feel like the end of the summer. Phoebe’s little family has gotten off to a great start. She announced to us that Marvin is now growing like a weed (a milk-weed!). He’s 8 lbs 13 ounces! I think he’s been basking in all the attention from his cousin Lewyn! We’ve enjoyed a long visit from Silas, Haleigh and Lewyn. They all head back to Tennessee later today!
Thanks so much for your prayers!
